LifeWave Patching Education through personal experience - Blog 1

The following is a recap of some of the questions and answers that were made during an episode of the Ask the Doctors Podcast with Dr. Karen Kan & Dr. Dennis Lobstein. These two individuals are amazing contributors to the LifeWave education community and I owe a lot of my learning and understanding around patching to their continual contribution to the community. I have recapped these questions to help me better learn and digest the information they share on their podcast. I trust you get the same value form them as I have.

During the Q&A session, several callers had inquiries regarding the patching techniques and specific points in relation to the different symptoms that they have been experiencing, looking for advice to help symptoms using LifeWave patches. Here are the summarized responses provided by Dr. Dennis and Dr. Karen:

Q: Jolene is seeking advice on the most effective protocol for addressing high inflammation with symptoms such as stiffness, swelling, and pain in joints and muscle tissue. These symptoms primarily affect the hands, knees, and feet, with the hands showing signs of weakness and deformity. Jolene has been using patches for nearly two weeks and recently completed a five-day X39/X49 detox protocol. She currently possesses Aeon, Glutathione, and IceWave patches and is open to purchasing additional ones. What recommendations can you provide?

A: Dr. Dennis explains that, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, inflammation can be viewed as damp heat. The goal is to drain dampness and clear heat from the body. Spleen 9 is an effective point for draining dampness, especially if soreness is felt inside the knee, indicating a blockage. Large Intestine 11 can be used to drain heat from the upper body, while Stomach 44 on the foot is useful for dissipating heat throughout the entire body, particularly the lower body. To support overall "sinew" health, Dr. Dennis suggests utilizing Gallbladder 34, known as the master point for tendons and ligaments.

Dr. Dennis also recommends considering patch placement, with X49 (a "yang" patch) on the right side of the body and X39 (a more "yin" patch) on the left side.

Patch Placement:

- Right: Large Intestine 11 with X49

- Left: Spleen 9 with X39

- Right: Gallbladder 34 with Aeon

Q: CL Williams has expressed concerns about their mother-in-law experiencing loose stool when using the X39 patch below her navel. The symptoms of loose stool or diarrhea ceased when she discontinued using the patch. She used three patches for a duration of 12 hours each over three days. The patch was initially introduced to address a non-bowel-related issue, and surprisingly, it provided relief for that problem during the three-day period. What suggestions or insights can you provide?

A: According to Dr. Dennis, Conception Vessel 4 can help tonify yang qi, while CV 6 tonifies qi in general. If the loose stool has an unpleasant odor, it could indicate the presence of a lower Jiao infection or "toxic heat." However, if there is no odor, it may be attributed to Spleen qi deficiency.

Dr. Karen recommends considering patching the area halfway between Stomach 36 and 37, especially if there is tenderness, as this can be beneficial for the ileocecal valve.

Furthermore, Dr. Karen suggests that the loose stool could be a detoxification symptom, considering that the non-bowel-related issue was resolved. To address this, she proposes retrying the X39 patch while adding an Aeon patch on the lower right abdomen to provide support for the ileocecal valve. Another alternative is placing an Aeon patch on Conception Vessel 8, which corresponds to the belly button, specifically for loose bowel movements. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, salt and burning moxa (mugwort) are utilized to increase energy flow in all the channels of the body.

Q: Neeta is seeking a patching protocol recommendation for a headache caused by acidity. They have experienced vomiting, but their head still feels heavy. What approach would you suggest?

A: Dr. Dennis suggests using the IceWave and Energy Enhancer patches, as they can help shift catabolism and address lactic acid residue. By using the Energy Enhancer patches, the production of lactic acid can potentially be reduced, resulting in a decreased level of acidity.

It's important to note that the body functions optimally in a slightly alkaline environment. While the headache may or may not be directly related to acidity, a heavy head often indicates dampness. To address this, Dr. Dennis recommends using Spleen 9 to drain dampness and considering the application of Shu Stream Points. Additionally, Large Intestine 4 can be used to eliminate excessive yang qi from the head. For this purpose, a combination of X49 on the right side and X39 on Liver 3 on the left side can be employed.

Q: Karen C. is seeking an explanation for the limited use of only a few patches every few days for a short duration as indicated by muscle testing. They are curious if it's possible to receive an excessive amount of light through patching, as they experienced elevated heart rate initially.

A: Dr. Dennis encountered a similar situation with a client who experienced worsening symptoms when using the Pericardium 6 points, using either the white patch on the right or the tan patch on the left. Interestingly, when the patch locations were reversed, the symptoms improved. This suggests that the issue might lie in the specific patch placement. You can try switching the colors to the opposite side and observe if it brings relief.

It's possible that this pattern indicates a detoxification process. Over time, the client Dr. Dennis worked with was able to tolerate the patches for longer durations. They found it helpful to remove the patches when experiencing symptoms and drink plenty of water, preferably with added salt. Drinking structured water can also support improved metabolic efficiency through enhanced hydration.

Dr. Karen expresses her anticipation for the potential availability of the LifeWave water machine in the next couple of years. She is hopeful that such a device, if offered by David, would have the ability to structure water, further enhancing its benefits.

Q: Rhetah is concerned about the disappearance of Nirvana from the LifeWave store and seeks alternatives. Many individuals have experienced positive results by using a combination of Aeon, X39, and Nirvana, particularly those who were previously reliant on medications and are now doing well.

A: Dr. Dennis explains that the research suggests an increase in dopamine levels within the brain, specifically endorphins. Individuals with depression often exhibit lower dopamine levels. Nirvana tablets support enkephalins, which have receptors on the dopamine neurons. Dopamine is predominantly found in the basal ganglia, where it plays a crucial role in fine-tuning motor output from the motor cortex. Low dopamine levels can lead to tremors or shaking.

To address tremors: The wood element in Traditional Chinese Medicine is associated with movement. Internal wind is responsible for tremors, so points related to the liver and gallbladder can be utilized. Liver 3 on the left side and the Yuan Source Point for the Gallbladder, GB 40, can be considered. Alternatively, the belt channel master point, Gallbladder 41 on the right side, can also be used.

For mood support: If individuals are experiencing low mood, it is possible to uplift their spirits by raising yang qi. This can be achieved by applying an Aeon patch on the Bi Wei, which corresponds to Governing Vessel 20 located at the top of the Tai Chi Pole (top of the head).

Dr. Dennis shares an anecdote about mitigating cocaine withdrawal symptoms by using an SP6 patch on the left "stop addiction" point known as Tian Wei. This point is located halfway between Large Intestine 5 and Lung 7 on the radial aspect of the wrist. To accurately target this point, align the patch's edge with the wrist crease at the base of the thumb.
