Kids and Teens with Dyslexia

It can be difficult for kids and teens to deal with dyslexia, especially during school stages. So how can NLP and hypnosis help children deal with dyslexia?  Firstly, what exactly is dyslexia? Dyslexia can be identified as a reading disability or a learning disorder. The individual will typically struggle with language due to issues with identifying speech sounds and relating them to letters and words.  That said, dyslexia doesn’t affect intelligence and vision, there’s also no cure for dyslexia but support is recommended, ideally to help the individual in school.

Dyslexia can run through families through links of certain genes plus, there can be external influences like environmental factors. Here’s a few signs a child may be dyslexic:

  •  Struggle with reading or tends to read slower.

  • Avoidance or lack of confidence of reading activities.

  • Writing is a difficult task for them, even impossible in some cases.

  • Problems with spelling.

  • Struggle with understanding and processing what they hear.  Issues with remembering or naming letters, colours and numbers.

Please note that dyslexia can vary from person to person.

The challenges of dealing with dyslexia:

As mentioned above, dyslexia is different for everyone but typically children and teens can struggle with a low self esteem as they find it difficult dealing with issues revolving around language and reading. This lack of confidence can carry on into the later stages in life as adults, bringing social, educational and even financial implications.  With NLP coaching and clinical hypnosis, the goal isn’t just to improve their skills with reading and language, it’s also to help boost their confidence so they can positively deal with the struggles that come with dyslexia and live like everyone else.

How NLP and hypnosis can help:

So, if you’re reading this you’re most likely a parent looking to help support your child deal with their dyslexia and help them through it. Here’s how NLP and clinical hypnosis can help tackle dyslexia.  NLP Visual Spelling Strategy is a practice that helps its students form and associate visual/mental pictures with words. With substantial results from this strategy, we believe that forming visual aid with language can literally form and strengthen neural pathways in your brain can help your child deal with common dyslexic symptoms such as reading and language difficulties.  Similar to NLP, hypnosis also aids unconscious thought processes with the formation and strengthening of certain skills that people with dyslexia lack or don’t have.  Learning something new is a slow process that eventually becomes automated. Give riding a bike as an example. At first, you had to learn and struggle your way to balance whilst cycling and turning the handle bars at the same time. Now you can most likely cycle without thinking, on ‘autopilot’ mode. This is due to the formation of new neural pathways that strengthen as you continue to use this skill. The same applies when children learn how to read and spell. We can help form new neural pathways in the affected areas of the brain using NLP and hypnosis.  NLP therapy and clinical hypnosis for children certainly goes a long way. The impact isn’t solely centred around improving reading abilities but it also caters around the building of their self esteem with other NLP practices that help with anxiety, depression and much more.  One beautiful thing about NLP is that it makes the child aware of what exactly is going on in their mind. NLP tackles the issues of focus and concentration by showing children what it means to do so rather than simply telling them.

NLP and hypnosis is a subjective experience but a deeply personal one too. It allows me to accurately locate where your child or teen is struggling and how I can help them adjust their thinking process so that it holistically improves their lives.  To know more about how NLP therapy can help your child
