Virtual Gastric Band Hypnosis Adelaide – Is this the weight loss solution for me?

November 16, 2016 Matthew Tweedie
Time to take control of your eating habits. Do you want to become slim, fit and healthy and an avoid invasive surgical procedure. There is a better way with hypnosis.

What is a virtual gastric band?

A virtual gastric band is a procedure used by a professional hypnotherapist to suggest to the subconscious mind that you have actually had a gastric band fitted around your stomach. Gastric band hypnotherapy guides you through virtual preparation for surgery, virtual surgery, and a healthy post-op lifestyle, all in the comfort of your own mind.

The process does not involve surgery or medication and is completely safe. Many people who have had the virtual procedure, report feeling full much quicker when eating, as if they had undergone real surgery.

What is actual gastric band surgery?

This surgery is considered a last resort for people who are very obese, more than 45 kilograms over their ideal body weight, and who are unable to successfully shed any of the weight. Gastric band surgery entails fitting a band around the upper part of the stomach, which limits the amount of food a person is able to eat. You feel full more quickly and eat less, which then helps you to lose weight.

This is a surgical procedure, and comes with potential risks and complications, which may include:

·      Infection after surgery.

·      Dangerous blood clots in legs or the lungs.

·      Possible internal bleeding.

·      Nausea and reflux problems.

How does gastric band hypnosis work?

Surgery is a big step for anyone to take, and if you are very overweight, your risks of complications are very high. There are no risks with gastric band hypnosis. The aim is that on a subconscious level, you will accept that you have physically had the procedure, and that your stomach has reduced in size.

Using tried and tested techniques, the hypnotherapist will put you into a state of hypnosis. You will be fully aware of what is going on around you. You will not be asleep or unconscious in any way, and you cannot be made to anything you do not want to do.

At this relaxed stage, your subconscious mind will be open to suggestions the therapist will make regarding your weight loss aims, such as embracing a healthy lifestyle, good eating habits, banishing negative thoughts about losing weight, and restoring confidence in yourself.

The hypnotherapist will next carry out the most important part of the virtual gastric band treatment. Strong suggestions will be made to convince you at a subconscious level that you have indeed had an operation to insert a gastric band.

Will the virtual gastric band work for me?

The mind is very powerful. On a conscious level you will know that you did not have surgery, but if your subconscious mind accepts the suggestion that you had a physical gastric band fitted, and also accepts the suggestions of pre-op preparation, and post-op care, then there is every chance it will work for you.

Gastric band hypnosis is a serious commitment. The more you treat it as real gastric band surgery, the more effective it will be. You will still have free will and the ability to make unhealthy choices.

True healthy living comes from the choices you make every day, to develop healthy eating habits, and make positive lifestyle changes.

Getting the best out of the process.

What you get out of the virtual gastric band hypnotherapy treatment, depends on how much you believe in the process, and in the abilities of your therapist.

Trusting that your hypnotherapist is acting in your best interests, plays an essential part in the success of any hypnosis treatment.

Losing weight is very important to the obese, and the virtual gastric band process offers real hope without the dangers of surgery.  However to fully succeed and move forward, it will require total commitment to permanent lifestyle changes.

How Hypnosis and NLP Address Retroactive Jealousy at the Root
May 18, 2026

The previous parts of this series have established something important: retroactive jealousy is not a problem of thinking. It is a conditioned nervous system response, generated through unconscious emotional learning, and maintained through a self-reinforcing loop that conscious effort cannot easily break. The approaches that are most likely to resolve it are ones that work at the level where it actually operates.

Hypnosis and NLP are tools that work in precisely that territory. They are not treatments for a disorder. They are methods for communicating with the unconscious processes that generate learned patterns, and for supporting those processes to update in a direction that serves the person better.

Why You Cannot Think Your Way Out of Retroactive Jealousy
May 13, 2026

Most people who experience retroactive jealousy know, at some level, that their thoughts are not rational. They understand that their partner's past is not a present threat. They can list the reasons why what happened before they were part of their partner's life is irrelevant to who they are together now. The logic is not the problem.

When the Past Will Not Stay in the Past: Understanding Retroactive Jealousy
May 5, 2026

You find yourself thinking about the people your partner was with before they knew you. The images arrive uninvited. The questions form on their own. You replay conversations you were not part of. You imagine scenes you cannot know. And the harder you try to stop, the more insistently your mind returns to the same territory.

This is what retroactive jealousy feels like from the inside. Not ordinary envy, not a passing flicker of insecurity, but something that operates almost independently of your wishes. A pattern that knows exactly how to find its way back, no matter how many times you have resolved to let it go.

Why You Cannot Sleep: Understanding Insomnia as a Learned Nervous System Pattern
April 27, 2026

If you are reading this at an unreasonable hour, or if you dragged yourself out of bed this morning after another night of lying awake watching the time crawl forward, this is for you. You are not failing at sleep. You are not broken. What is happening in your body and mind at night is not a sign of weakness or a flaw in your character. It is a learned pattern, and learned patterns can change.

By now, you understand that procrastination is not laziness. In Parts 1 and 2 of this series, we explored how procrastination forms as a protective emotional pattern, how fear, perfectionism, and overthinking keep people stuck, and why willpower alone rarely leads to lasting change.

The Dopamine Loop: How the Brain Builds a Compulsion to Cheat
April 13, 2026

If you have ever sat with the aftermath of infidelity and tried to understand how it keeps happening, you may have arrived at a question that feels both important and uncomfortable: why does something that costs so much keep feeling, in the moments before it happens, like something you cannot not do?

The answer is not found in your character. It is not found in how much you love your partner, or how seriously you take commitment, or how clearly you understand the consequences of your behaviour. The answer is found in the brain, and specifically in the way the brain's reward system builds patterns of compulsion that operate largely outside of conscious control.
